The Caixa Forum located in the lower part of the Montjuic mountain, in an old cotton factory, a modernist-style building created by the prestigious architect Josep Puig i Cadafalch. The CaixaForum museum is a great cultural center with a great variety of exhibitions and activities specially intended for families to enjoy.

History of the CaixaForum Museum

The modernist Casaramona factory building was created in 1913. It worked as a cotton factory for 6 years, then had various uses until it became the property of "La Caixa" in 1963. A few years later it was declared a Site of Cultural Interest. At the end of the 20th century, reforms began to convert it into its current role as a cultural center. These works were completed in 2002, giving way to its current stage as an outstanding museum of the city of Barcelona.

Temporary Exhibition Halls

CaixaForum has a large and varied agenda of temporary cultural exhibitions, they vary among all the possibilities of art such as painting, photography, cinema, etc. In addition to the visit it is completed with the unique value of the visit of the building for its architectural and historical value.

  • Closing Wednesday July and August: 23: 00h.

  • Closing on January 5 and December 24 and 31: 6:00 p.m.

  • Closed on January 1st and 6th and December 25th.

  • Prices vary depending on the activity: they are usually popular prices that are around the majority of visits between 3 and 6 euros.

  • CaixaBank clients usually have 50% or free discounts depending on the activities.

How to get to the CaixaForum

Caixa Forum is located in the mountain of Montjuic, very close to the Magic Fountains of Montjuic, with easy access from Plaza España. At the Plaza España stop on L1, L3 or Catalan railways you have to go up to the National Museum of Art of Catalonia visible from Plaza España. When we reach the end of Av. Maria Cristina we turn onto Av. Francesc Ferrer i Guàrdia to the right and immediately we can see the CaixaForum building.

Monday to Sunday: 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Wednesday of July and August: From 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.
December 24, 31 and January 5: 10:00 a.m. at 6:00 p.m.
December 25, January 1 and 6 closed.
