Joan Miró Foundation Museum

The museum of the Catalan artist Joan Miró was created by the same artist to show his work of modern art in the city of Barcelona. Located in the heart of the mountain of Montjuïc you can enjoy his work and other artists of modern art in temporary exhibitions.

Biography Joan Miró

Born in 1893 in Barcelona, ​​he lived between Monroig de Camp, Mallorca, Paris, New York and Japan where he created his style. He married in 1929 and they have his only daughter. The Joan Miró Foundation was inaugurated in 1975 and in 1982 the monument "Woman and Bird" was installed in the park that bears his name in Barcelona. He died in Palma de Mallorca on December 25, 1983 and is buried in the Montjuïc cemetery.

How to get to the Joan Miró Foundation

The Joan Miró Foundation is located on the slopes of Montjuïc Mountain on Avinguda Miramar. The easiest way to get there from the city by public transport is with the Montjuïc funicular at the top stop, it is a two minute walk, once you leave the station, cross the road and head Direction to the Olympic stadium.
